Gandikota is a small village located in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The main
attraction in Gandikota is the Gandikota Fort, which was built in the 12th century by the Kamma
Kings.
The fort is situated on the banks of the Penna River and is known for its stunning architecture and
strategic location. The fort has imposing stone walls and several structures inside, including a
mosque, granaries, and a temple. The views from the fort are breathtaking, with the river flowing
through a deep gorge, resembling the Grand Canyon in the United States
Arrive in Gandikota early in the morning, preferably before sunrise. Head to the canyon viewpoint, where you can witness a stunning sunrise over the Penna River Gorge. After sunrise, explore the canyon viewpoint area and take in the breathtaking views. Start your trek down to the Penna River. This trek offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the rugged landscape of the region.
Visit the Madhavaraya Temple, a historic site within the Gandikota Fort complex. Explore the temple's architecture and soak in the history. Explore Charminar, a watchtower with panoramic views of the Gandikota region. Return to the camping and sports academy.
Set up a bonfire and enjoy some music. Participate in outbound games arranged by the academy or engage in stargazing, as Gandikota's clear night skies are perfect for this.
Begin your day with another sunrise view. Head to a different viewpoint in Gandikota, like the Gandikota Fort viewpoint, to capture the morning's beauty. Embark on a trek to the secret waterfalls. Spend time at the secret waterfalls, enjoying the natural beauty and tranquility of the area.
Afterward, consider a short trek to the last windmill, where you can appreciate panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Start your journey back to Hyderabad, which is approximately a 5-6 hour drive. Make sure to leave with ample time to arrive in Hyderabad by 11:00 PM.
